Relationships are the cornerstone of ourwell-being, but they can also bring complex challenges. Whether you are navigating a specific crisis or simply looking to strengthen your connection, I offer a warm, inclusive, and professional space to help you find a way forward.
I work with couples on a long and short term basis at any stage of their relationship to improve communication, negotiation and compromise, to develop intimacy, throughout separation and divorce, recovery from affairs and betrayals, sexual differences and difficulties.
I also work with couples to understand and resolve the impact on the relationship of bereavement, trauma, childhood related issues, addiction, depression, work related stress, infertility, family related issues and cultural differences. I see couples of every sexual and gender orientation.

dynamics, and cultural differences. My Approach to Couples Therapy
My approach to working with couples is warm, straightforward and collaborative. I see the relationship as something we can explore together, rather than looking for who is right or wrong. I draw particularly on the Bader-PearsonDevelopmental Model, which looks at how relationships develop and change over time. One of the ideas I find particularly helpful is the concept of difference. Relationships often begin with a strong sense of connection through what we have in common – the things we agree about, enjoy doing together, and the qualities we recognise and appreciate in each other. Over time, as the relationship develops and each person becomes more comfortable being themselves, differences and individuality naturally become more apparent. This can sometimes come as a surprise. Things that once felt easy may become areas of disagreement: differences in needs, preferences, expectations, values, ways of communicating, sex and intimacy, money, family life or how you spend your time. It can feel as though the relationship has changed, or that you have somehow become less compatible.
I see this emergence of difference as a normal and important stage in the development of a relationship. The challenge is learning how to remain connected while recognising that you are two separate people, with your own thoughts, feelings, needs and wishes. This is where the idea of differentiation becomes important. Differentiation involves developing the capacityto stay connected to your partner while also being able to hold on to your own sense of self. It means being able to communicate what matters to you, listen to what matters to your partner, tolerate differences and find ways of negotiating them without either person having to give up who they are.In our work together, we will look at what happens between you: how you communicate, how disagreements develop, how you respond to each other's differences, and the patterns you may have become caught in. I will listen carefully to both partners and aim to create a space where each person can speak openly and feel heard. Depending on what brings you to counselling, we may also explore intimacy and sex, trust and betrayal, separation and divorce, or the impact of experiences such as bereavement, trauma, family difficulties or work-related stress.
Sometimes I may suggest homework or exercises between sessions. These are not about passing or failing, but about giving you an opportunity to practice something we have explored together and to notice what happens when you approach each other differently. My aim is to help you develop a clearer understanding of yourselves, each other and the relationship between you, and to support you in finding ways of being together that allow both connection and individuality to flourish.Take the Next Step
